People Make It Possible

Success Story

This company is in the process to a very successful implementation.

Their people are to take credit for that, so we are very proud to show those "agents of change" here.

Just as it is normal in these implementations, The "5S" and Kaizen have become a culture within the company. There is a general awareness of the effort and the steps that the company is taking to reach higher levels of efficiency in each area of the plant. They recently had a "Quality Fair" where they showed with pride some of their accomplishments and also many of their products. These are parts for the automotive industry.

Left: Enrique can't hide his great satisfaction for the way this company has supported the implementation process. 5S and the basics of Autonomous Maintenance have been the main focus of these workshops. An implementation like this is a process that in normal conditions should take from 3 to 4 years in this size of plant; even more if it keeps growing as it has in recent months. There is a very positive environment around this whole project. The management group is providing a very strong support too.

Above: The coordinator, David Carrasco, though has decided to double the effort and bring it up in half that time. It is the enthusiasm of all these people that is generating a success story in Metaldyne.

As a complementary strategy, Metaldyne has incorporated "Management Through Leadership"©. The managerial group enthusiastically participated in a three day seminar analyzing the advantages of "The New Effective Manager-Leader Style" that will help the corporation keep focused on the Lean change. A total of eighteen members came together to update their strengths and skills. It was a "self-discovery" and "mutual-learning" event and the three-member teams had fruitful discussions. This will help them fine tune with the Kaizen philosophy and establish a broader and more productive communication channel with their workforce.

"Management Through Leadership"© is a MORA Consulting Copyrighted process of hands on training for the development and updating of leaders in the workplace .

Good News: Metaldyne has achieved an acknowledgement from Ford Motor Co. called “Quality III – Experienced”. According to Ford STA, very few die casters have received such status and this is due to the continuous improvement effort shown in quality and process.

We congratulate the whole Metaldyne team and are very proud of taking part in this effort.

Top Management Support

One of the main reasons for the success of the implementations at Hydraulic Control Division, Metaldyne has been the continuous support of the top management. They are always present when the teams proudly present their achievements.
